Happy birthday, Kawasaki Ninja
Even if you’re not into sports bikes, you’ll have heard of the Kawasaki Ninja. This mean (and very often green) sports bike is celebrating its 25th birthday this year and if you head down to a Kawasaki dealer this weekend, you’ll be able to check out a load of competitions and special events that are taking place in its honour.
Remember Tom Cruise’s ride inTop Gun? That was the first ever Ninja, a 1984 Kawazaki GPZ900R (pictured left). It was equipped with Kawasaki’s first liquid-cooled, 908cc DOHC, 16 valve, four cylinder and it became the fastest bike in production. It still looks amazingly cool, but if you fancy something a bit more modern, you'll probably appreciate the latest (and 16th) iteration of the famous Ninja, the ZX-6R (right). We'd quite happily trade an organ for either.
